Virtual Storage Management
Veritas VM creates a virtual level of storage management above the physical device level by creating virtual storage objects. The virtual storage object that is visible to users and applications is called a “volume”.
What is a volume?
A volume is a virtual object, created by VM, that stores data. A volume is made up of space from one or more physical disks on which the data is physically stored.
How do you access a volume?
Volumes created by VM appear to the OS as physical disks, and applications that interact with the volumes work in the same way as with physical disks.
